Eric Finton-James

Eric Finton-James is the Deputy Director for Operational Strategy in the PPE Policy and Strategy Directorate within the Department of Health and Social Care. Eric and team lead on supplying PPE to social care, primary care and other government departments, working with the various supply chain partners and local authorities (LAs) / local resilience fora (LRF) to strategise and manage the distribution of free, clinical PPE and, more importantly, oversee distribution and implementation.

When it became apparent that coronavirus was a real and present danger to our communities – and that our health and care workers were on the frontline of the battle to contain it – we knew effective protection for these amazing people would be among our top priorities. The provision and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) has been a vital part of our strategy to keep care staff safe – especially those in care homes and other restricted care settings.
