"Delegates attending our Chief Social Workers Lyn Romeo and Isabelle Trowler’s Wednesday plenary session (14 Oct, 11.20am) will gain an understanding of their vision for confident social work practice - any time, any place", believes Brendan Clifford, Dudley Council's Chief Social Worker for Adults and Children.

They will remind us that change and building on the assets of individuals and communities have always been at the heart of social work practice and need to be modelled anew for today’s challenges.

With respect to social work with adults, Lyn continues to remind us that we are a profession to be proud of, showing how social work practice can be a primary contributor to multi-disciplinary teams in increasingly integrated settings. We need to better understand our role in these environments.

Finally, Lyn is demonstrating how social work with adults is practised equally well in austerity, building on our profession’s long-standing concern to combat poverty and exclusion. All this – and more – will be discussed in Wednesday’s session.
