Andrew Reece, head of the integrated learning disability service for Camden Council, has always struggled with how the social care sector measures ‘what good looks like’, particularly in the context of supporting people with learning disabilities to make and sustain friendships. In this blog for DHSC's Social Care site, he proposes an alternative approach to help everyone get it right.
Since qualifying as a Social Worker in 1996, Andrew has worked in London and the Midlands in adult disability or all age disability teams.
He is currently Head of the integrated learning disability service for Camden.
Andrew has always been keen to innovate and led both the Individual Budgets Pilot for Coventry from 2006-2008 and the Named Social Worker Pilot for Camden in 2016-17 and continues to be committed to relationship based practice.
