Keeping in touch - changes to NHSmail

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Uncategorised

Following the NHS re-structure in April, work is underway to re-assign individual NHSmail email accounts from the old to the new structures.

If you have regular contact with NHS staff or organisations please note that, as a result of this work, some shared shared mailboxes set up for GP practices, hospital departments and other staff, cannot be re-assigned and will be unavailable after September 2013. In other words, some email addresses like dh-thesurgery@nhs.net  will no longer work.

If you regularly email shared NHSmail accounts belonging to GP practices or staff previously based in PCTs or SHAs,  email addresses may be unavailable after 30 September. This is particularly important if you manage email-based processes e.g. sending discharge notifications to GPs.

As not all shared mailboxes will be affected, please contact any GP practices or NHS staff who used to be based in PCTs or SHAs and whom you email regularly, and check your current communication routes will remain valid after 30 September.
