Learning Disability Week is almost over but the commitment to improve quality of life and health outcomes for those living with learning disabilities goes on.
The drive to share and embed best practice across the health and care system was given a boost recently with the announcement by NHS England's Chief Executive Simon Stevens of five fast track sites in England which will be given additional support to speed their service transformation.
You can read more about this welcome development - and DH's ongoing listening and learning exercise - in this recent article from our Minister for Community and Social Care Alistair Burt.
Further information
The fast track sites are Greater Manchester and Lancashire; Cumbria and the North East; Arden; Herefordshire and Worcestershire; Nottinghamshire; and Hertfordshire.
Each site will be receiving a joint letter from NHS England, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, Local Government Association and Department of Health setting out more detail on the task in hand.
Visit the NHS website for updates in the weeks and months ahead.
